How to enter the Buy Smart Competition

To enter the Buy Smart Competition, create your project and submit it, along with a completed entry form (in the student entry kit), by the closing date.

The student entry kit contains:

• a workbook to guide you through the competition process
• hints and tips for creating entries
• eligibility and judging criteria
• conditions of entry
• important competition dates
• information about how to submit your entry.

Closing date

The 2025 Buy Smart Competition closes on Friday 19 September.

Film and photo consent

By entering the competition you're automatically giving us your consent to use your image, unless you opt out.

Entries often show students' faces in videos or photos. Winners' photos are posted on our website with their entries. We also take photos and video during the award ceremony.

We understand some people don't want their entry or photo to be posted online or otherwise displayed. If this is you, please contact us to discuss your options.

Video length requirements

We love seeing technology incorporated into your projects. Entries that include video or audio recordings are limited to either:

• 5 minutes for a single recording
• 10 minutes in total if multiple recordings are included in an entry.

Getting your project back

We usually keep the entries to use as examples on school visits and to inspire other students to enter future competitions.

We'll only return your entry in exceptional circumstances.
